Life at times feels both transient and permanent. It feels both fragile and resilient. Sometimes I don't know what to make of it all. The process of remembering a life being lived is a way for me to experience it with more meaning or intention. Thank you for taking the time to visit here and sharing a slice of my life. I love to hear from other people so please feel free to leave comments for me. My main (non-blog) photography site is at www.andrewhuth.com

Not merely filled with talk and emotions, they are actually pretty good.

The other day I posted a picture of my first billboard image on bookface. It was an image I took for Christopher Dock Mennonite High School. An image of several kids jumping (shown HERE) was made into a large billboard to promote their wonderful high school. I am totally flattered and honored that my first billboard image is being used to promote education and Dock HS. In my bookface post I mentioned that even though the jumping photo was the right choice and looks great on a billboard, it still wasn’t one of my absolute favorites from that assignment. Thankfully, I was working with a good editor (Jay Gordon) who has years of experience in the publishing and print world. He correctly saw the value of the photo and knew it was the right choice for this particular ad campaign. This is one of those things you learn as you live and breath in the photography industry—working with good people is key to success.

Admitting that the jumping image HERE wasn’t one of my favorites (even though I do like it very much and know it was a great choice for this billboard), prompted several of my photography geeks friends to ask me to post a few of my favs from the assignment. I thought this was a fine idea. This photoblog is generally a personal blog, but given that most of my favs from this assignment have an intimate and less commercial or corporate feel to them, I felt it would blend well with the rest of my personal blog posts. So I have decided to spend a few days posting some of my favs from this assignment. The images were all captured on a day the schools calls, Dock’s All School Social. A day filled with a mix of studies and play before the beginning of summer. If you live nearby and have a high schooler in the family take a serious look at Dock—it is an amazing school with smart, creative and loving faculty and staff. http://www.dockhs.org/

Surprising enough students still read physical newspapers.

These photos are meant to be viewed side by side and not on top of each other (just widen your browser). I took the left picture of the tree near my place yesterday while enjoying a quiet walk. I took the right picture of this man and his dog while walking back to my car after a work meeting today. My life is a bit like these photos—on the surface perhaps a bit incongruous and yet when you dig a bit deeper there is an internal consistency that is held together by my emotional response to my experiences of the world around and within me. At times, the feelings from one experience easily flow into another. Like all of you, I’m a beautiful and messy mystery. Oh yeah…and this guy looks pretty kickass and I am drawn to his kind eyes. #fujix100

Aunt Susan gives William a shout out from NYC via Skype on his 4th birthday. Naturally, he is overjoyed. Yet not distracted enough to stop telling people what to do (evidenced by making Nana wave at Aunt Susan). #fujix100
