“Yasar”

Yasar Kuttab, the son of Sam and Jehan, laughing during the reopening of his family’s store.  After an arson fire, the Kuttab family decided to rebuild and reopen their store in the same difficult area of Philadelphia.  Their store, unlike nearly every other store in that area, continues to have no bars on the windows or doors and projects a warm, clean and friendly family atmosphere.  The family feels that a store that doesn’t automatically assume the worst about it’s patrons and neighborhood is vital to helping to turn a troubled and difficult community around.  People like the Kuttabs fill me with hope.
