“Home At Last”
Charles and Sherry’s wedding wasn’t the only thing my friends and I were celebrating. Our friends Allen and Danielle have been living in Jakarta for the past 5 years and recently came back stateside in time for our friend’s wedding. I am not nearly good enough of a writer to properly express how much I love these two people so I will have to do my best with a camera.
Something about the wine glasses and candle, something about the way D in her sari is holding onto A and something about their expression struck me as romantic so I lifted my camera and captured this moment. I hope, through this picture, you can sense a small bit how warm and loving these two people are. I love them both, but A is a guy friend whom I have missed greatly over those 5 years. Our Skype conversations were never short and we often spent a good first third or so of our conversations laughing and acting like little school boys (the kind of behavior that might make someone—hmmm who I wonder—say something like, “geees Allen, I’m trying to have a serious conversation with Andrew, can you just be serious for once!”).
Our first meeting back went pretty much the same, except now we were able to do that in person. A and D, welcome home and back to your friends who have missed you dearly!
A quick note about D’s sari. When Charles “swung by” from Russia to visit these two in Jakarta, he bought D some material for making a sari. He told her that he would like to buy her a custom made sari that she can wear to his wedding when he finds a woman to love. Well, today was that day and true to her word D came donned in a beautiful sari perfect for the occasion. Charles, you are such a businessman that I sometimes forget what a romantic you are!
This past weekend my good friend Charles married Sherry (who is quickly becoming a beloved friend) and so a bunch of my dearest friends and I traveled (from the country of Greece to the state of Georgia) to share in this big moment in our dear friend’s life. I didn’t take many photos because I was well…too busy gabbing and soaking in these kindred spirits! However, I did document a little bit of our time together here and there so without further adieu here are some visual snippets of my time this past weekend.

It had slipped my mind that i had purchased a sari for D a few years ago. Afterwards, i do recall telling her that she had to wear it at my wedding, not even knowing who i was going to marry. Thanks you two for coming, i’m glad you’re back.

Andrew: Um….i didn’t forget, really i didn’t. What this picutre really captures is the “lovey dovey” stage of a mature married couple that still enjoys each other.
