“Spine Surgeon: A Photo Essay 1 of”

Dr. Todd J. Albert is the president and chief spine surgeon at the Rothman Institute and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.  This is a photo essay for Orthopedics This Week about a humble and caring genius who cuts people’s bodies open and works on them as calmly and effectively as if he were carrying out a mundane task.

As the chief surgeon, Dr. Albert’s mornings start off loudly as he listens to a group of Residents, packed into a tiny room, going over the details of their patients .  It is a time of collaborative problem solving and camaraderie.

Rebekah: Haha. So true. Yeah I think I actually saw only one woman spine surgeon there that day.
