“A BIRTHday Blessing”

Yesterday my sister celebrated another birthday. I suspect nearly all of her birthdays over the years have given plenty of reasons for celebration. Yet, I have a feeling that this year was perhaps more special to her than any other previous birthday. Last year this time she was a first time mother to a few month old baby. Although that particular birthday was special to her, she and Rich’s heads were spinning from learning all the ins and outs of being new parents and had little to no time to catch their breath. This year their teeny-weeny little gift is still full of personality and energy, yet he is becoming less and less the floppy, little, needy baby he was last time this year (he at times now can play on his own). The looks on my sister and Rich’s faces whenever I see them are more evidence that although they are perpetually tired in body, they are more filled with life than ever before. Being a mother, Allison often jokes (although it is often true) that she now rarely has energy to look presentable in appearance (a big change since my sister was always extremely fashionable). Sis, you have never looked more beautiful than when you have little William in your 5pm pajama wearing arms and with your disheveled hair.

Allison, I didn’t realize until I read your comment that in this photo you and William have the exact same nose and mouth. What, are you his mother or something?
