“Kiss It Goodbye”

grace-laptop.jpg

Posting about Allen yesterday reminded me of this photo of his kid I took last summer.  Before he went back to Jakarta he bought a brand new laptop to replace his 40 year old one.  Well, with little Grace around I’m pretty sure he kissed that laptop goodbye the day he bought it (not much of a loss however since it wasn’t a Mac ;-)

Oh yeah, A big thanks to my brother Dave for my new name plate!

I love this picture. And that is a sweet new name plate!

Thanks man! Also a big thanks for making a new name plate for me Dave! I love this so much better than what I had!

I concur with both of you. Sweet pic. Sweet Logo. Look at the determination on that kid’s face. It’s like she’s say “no! no Dad! Get a Mac!”

  4. Dad says:

Now THAT’S a nameplate, yessir!! Yup! … great nameplate!

Your dad is great, pretending that he knows what a nameplate is! haha! I love that guy.

Thank goodness for the new logo, Huth. I was having a hard time visiting your blog these days; the previous, 80sish logo was creeping me out a bit. Glad to see that wiser heads have intervened and prevailed.
And, to set the record straight, I went with a Windows machine to teach my daughter the virtue of patience, and that character is sculpted not by the mountain top experiences promoted by the likes of Mr. Jobs, but by how one deals with the unexpected “freeze and crash” moments of life–the metaphoric Blue Screens of Death, if you will. It is all about learning to reject self pity, pick yourself up again, and, of course, hit Contral-Alt-Delete…

Go-o-o-o-o-o Allen!! Yesssssssss!! No self pity for me, either. We will show those Mac-Wimps a thing or two, right? Right! (Uh … what will we be showing them again?)

Allen: Dude, I will give you the nameplate thing—was pretty hideous—what I was thinking God only knows. As for your kid, let’s just say with Windows Vista she is going to have a lot of character building experiences. And here I thought parents wanted to give their children a better life than what they had growing up! Sorry baby Grace—just come visit your uncle Andrew and he will show you the view from the top. ;-)
