“Fish Market Auction”

Since the country of Korea is a peninsula I wanted to show the readers the importance of the ocean to the Korean people. To do this I took a taxi to the largest fish market in Seoul at 3 in the morning to catch all the action there. As groups of people shouted out bids during an auction another group was refilling the auction bins while yet another dumped their winnings into their personal transport bins. The things these pictures can’t express is the intense smells of the whole place. Not being a big fish person, it was a bit uncomfortable—that and the fact that my shoes, clothes and equipment have never had so many fish guts, blood and juice on them at any one time. Let’s just say that Leanna was happy that I took a long shower before we had to go do an interview elsewhere later that day. Leanna, you’re welcome.

Hilarious, I wish I could have been there to witness that scene. As always, the best photo journalist is my friend, Andrew Huth!!!
