the process of remembering: a photoblog by andrew huth

“The Managing Editor Rocking It Far Eastside”

managing-editor.jpg

Leanna is the managing editor I was doing the assignment for.  Working with her I was impressed with her easy ability to talk to others (even though she, like me, is a professed introvert), but more importantly Leanna impressed me with her heart.  As a photographer I am always looking at things and the people around me so it wasn’t any surprise that I would often catch Leanna’s willingness to share a bit of love and affection with those around her.  I saw it in the way she held an elderly woman’s hand and in the hugs she gave the children at an orphanage.  I also saw the effects of her warmth on the faces and body language of those who returned the affection back and in her slightly misty eyes when we had to leave the children.  Needless to say I couldn’t have been luckier to have worked with her.  What I wasn’t prepared for, however, was how easy it was to laugh with her too.  I think I lost a few pounds in tears on this assignment.  Best of all is that I can say that she is not only a managing editor, but now my friend as well.

p.s. you have to have a calibrated monitor to really see this image as intended with contrasty vibrant reds otherwise it might look kind of dull and orange.

I have tons of photos from my recent assignment to Korea so I can’t show you most of it without turning this personal blog into a Korea blog.  So I will show a few images from the trip and maybe someday do a couple of photo essays here that will feel more complete than these random images.  In the meantime I hope you enjoy these various sketches for a bit before I move on to other things.
