Huh. yeah, too bad now that some photographer has taken that picture those poor little kids no longer have their souls! oh well, i’m sure it will look nice hanging over rachel and doug’s futon.

LOL. :-) Yeah Rachel didn’t buy the picture—it was about something else I think (maybe a ceramic piece or something). As you know most old order Amish do not allow photos of themselves because of certain Biblical interpretations, but the families depicted in this guy’s photos actually invited him to come lived with them for a period and to document their lives. I guess this guys has been documenting these Amish families for I think over a decade.

I love your shot. The light and the way you processed this photo is perfect. I loved the history lesson between you and your brother. I must admit that I didn’t know that the Amish are against their photos being taken.

I liked this picture of the boys because of the puppies, but the guy who took the photos took them about half an hour from where I grew up which was also why I was interested in him. Michael’s grandma lives really close to where these pictures (of the Amish not of us) were taken. The guy said he was friends with them and they asked him to come take pictures which is interesting. I picked cherries as a teenager with some Amish children and the whole gender separation thing was so evident. Sometimes I would forget and go to pick on a tree with the boys and they would immediately stop talking and look nervous until I remembered that I should go pick with girls and not boys =).
