the process of remembering: a photoblog by andrew huth

“Carol Needs Another”

Post 3 of Keely and Mark’s wedding.  With all the toasting that took place at the wedding, Carol needed more than a single glass of champagne to get her through all of them.  Okay, so it was only ginger ale and our table did give her our glasses to make her look like a lush, but she was cool for playing along.

It looked like a lot of fun! I love the way your processed the photos. Wonderful job!

Thanks Tammy. Yeah, when I started taking pictures I fell in love with grainy black and white film and as you can see, I still love it today. Since the digital camera era so many people have become obsessed with low ISO and smooth non-noisy images, but I want the opposite a lot of the time. I deliberately shoot at a high ISO (even if I don’t need to) so that I get noise in my images and then do a b/w conversion. I’m happy you like it.

It really is addicting to look at it. Your work is unique in its own way, which always keeps me anxious to see more photos.

Ditch the NOISY images, son! NOBODY looks at NOISY photos. And the ISO thing? … get back on track, son!! Lose the high; get with the low. It’ll blow the doors off your, uh, highlights!!
