Life at times feels both transient and permanent. It feels both fragile and resilient. Sometimes I don't know what to make of it all. The process of remembering a life being lived is a way for me to experience it with more meaning or intention. Thank you for taking the time to visit here and sharing a slice of my life. I love to hear from other people so please feel free to leave comments for me. My main (non-blog) photography site is at www.andrewhuth.com

No… thank you so much for replying and taking the time to explain to me how you do the things you do. My first instinct was a fish eye lens. I defiantly applaud you for this technique. Great work as always. Your work brings so much joy to so many people and it inspires me in so many ways. Count me as your #1 fan!

Thank you so much for the compliment on the hummingbird! I think I took a dozen or so shots that day of the same bird. She had finally held still long enough for me to take the shot. The clarity isn’t that great do to the distance, but oh well.

Thanks everyone.

Tammy: Even though it might look like I used a fish-eye lens it was actually just a 17mm lens on a full frame digital 35mm camera (so the field of view was actually that of a 17mm lens). As you already know, the distortion you are seeing is from me using the lens at an angle (when using this lens straight it has nearly no distortion). The funny thing is that in technical terms this is considered a flaw by lens manufacturers and they try to minimize this behavior in most lenses. Ironically though this is why I like the lens. Sorry for the long reply, but I figured you asked about the lens because of the weird look of the photo.

By the way, sweet hummingbird photo. I can never seem to time taking the photo of those fast little buggers.

Great shot! It looked like a warm day! What kind of lens did you use?
