It’s been about seven years now that Heather has endured “experiencing” me in the morning before I have had a chance to shower, brush my teeth, or put on more clothing than my underwear (yeah, the sight is not for the weak stomached). Yet, I wonder how it is that she can still look on me with such pure love. I don’t know about her, but I love sitting and looking at my wife in the morning in all her plainness before her shower. I love her disheveled hair, sleepy eyes, and minimalist speech. I love watching her move through the morning routines and crossing paths with her movements. When I get to enjoy her in these moments, it reminds me that we belong to each other. She belongs to me and I to her and we allow ourselves to be vulnerable to each other. What’s more beautiful than that? I suppose today is as good as any other day to say, I love you Heather. You make me a better person.

I thank God that you love my daughter the way that you do, Andrew! You are a mother’s prayer-come-true!
