the process of remembering: a photoblog by andrew huth

My sister Allison and her husband Rich, along with Heather, made me a gigantic birthday feast of Korean food. Lucky for me Allison and Heather are both excellent Korean food cooks. As for Rich, he is one of the best gourmet cooks I know, even though that is not his vocation. They truly made my birthday feel special. It has been a long time since I had a party like this for my birthday. It made me feel a bit like a little kid, even though I am told I can no longer be called that since I have left my twenties behind.

Here, Allison and Rich talk over a few things before putting the finishing touches onto a Korean rice dish called Dolsot Bibimbap, by placing vegetables over rice into stone bowls heating up on the stove burners.

Oh, yeah, son! … looks really yummy! Um Hmmm! How about telling all your fans about the joys of munching on a pile of barbequed chicken’s feet or a bowl full of octopus suckers. Oh, sure … gourmet! Yup, REAL gourmet!!

Well, Bibimbap is not exactly what you would call gourmet food. However, I am pretty sure Rich’s gourmet cook status would not be challenged by anyone who knows (through their mouth) his cooking. :-)
