Memorial Day Weekend: Day 6

Joshua explains something (knowing him it probably had something to do with dinosaurs—he loves all kinds of animals both living and extinct, but dinosaurs are his favorite) to Sydney while Alice checks out what I was up to again with my camera.

A side story about Joshua: A favorite computer game of Joshua is a game called Zoo Tycoon. It’s a game similar to Sim City, but the player is charged with creating a virtual zoo. I wanted to see him build a place for an African elephant so Joshua obliged. According to Joshua, African elephants like to paint so he put an easel and some paint cans in their play area. Growing impatient with the elephant’s disinterest in painting he raised his arm into the air and shouted, “come on you endangered species!”

The diptych is so cute and well constructed. It really does tell a story.

And I LOVE the bottom frame with Alice checking things out. It puts the camera (and the viewer) in the shot. It’s the photographic equivalent of “breaking the proscenium.”

Your description adds a great deal to the experience, too.

    Hey Rachel,

My site has been a victim of a great deal of spam with links to pretty bad sites. Because of this problem, I have required people leaving comments with 1 or more links in them to be held until I can approve the comment. As you can see above
I approved your messages. If you don’t have any links in the comment field, it will post right away.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANDREW! Hope you have a great day celebrating! Thanks for sharing all of your pictures – I especially like the picture of Alice checking the camera scene out here.

Thanks Dawn for the birthday message. Yeah Alice is a cutie for sure. She along with my other nieces and nephews love to check out the back of my camera whenever I take a picture. Who knows maybe they will become photographers someday.

This reminds me of my kids. A couple years ago we had a hammock and they use to lay out there for hours. Love the second photo. Great story also.

Hi, I’ve started a new group called Kids Life, and we’d love to have your photo added to the group and have you become a regular contributer to the group if you would like.
