the process of remembering: a photoblog by andrew huth

I was inspired by a recent post on my friends blog entitled “Raindrops kept falling on the car….” While passing through Montana to Wyoming, my wife and I drove right into a torrential downpour. Powerful, beautiful and a bit frightening to us, but an answer to prayers for the people of that region. A local Rancher told me that this was the first rain they have had in nearly a year. The drought has caused a great deal of hardships to the Farmers and Ranchers and has been a source of the wildfires that have razed so much of the landscape.

Hey Andrew, thank you so much for this photo. It may not seem like much, but your words and this photo tell a story of the hardships that farmers and ranchers face everyday. Thank you.

Hi Anonymous. Thank you for your words. You are right, the photo isn’t much, but what you wrote about it makes it more special. This is the kind of stuff I like about using the internet to share an idea or a photo—the interaction between strangers to have a larger dialog. I have heard of the hardships the ranchers and farmers out there have faced. This makes think of a photo essay I have wanted to do and hope to do someday—to document the plight of how modern mass consumerism has affected the small local farmers in this country. You know my e-mail address from this site so I hope you might write me sometime.

    Thanks.

    Andrew
