the process of remembering: a photoblog by andrew huth

lori-expecting

My sister-in-law Lori is a professor. She is a writer. She is a wife. She is an intellectual. Now, she is preparing to be a mother. This past Memorial Day weekend my brother and she made the big announcement before a family dinner. Taking a family walk after dinner I watched as the evening sun lit up my sister-in-law’s hair. Like me, I felt the sun too wanted to celebrate this news. I know parents view their babies as gifts, but my brother and sister-in-law’s baby will receive an unmeasurable gift in being raised by them. This baby will have a great deal to be grateful for.

I took a class with Lori in 2000, at UB. As I am packing to move (from Atlanta to Albuquerque) with my boyfriend, my copy of _Underworld_ fell from the shelf, and revealed the handout she made for a presentation with our class together.
Strange incarnations of love, and passion: Don DeLillo, and children to come. Congratulations.

Your words of power and love have brought a tear to my eye. How touching and thoughtful your are. What a beautiful photo! Her smile just lights up the room. I am hoping that I will have that same wonderful smile soon.
