I was at my parent’s house this past weekend. Several of my nieces and nephews were also there. All Saturday morning my nieces were looking forward to a planned tea party that my wife and my mom helped coordinate. There was makeup, dresses, music, tea drinking, cookie eating and even an escort to the party (dinning room table) by my father. They had a blast. It was refreshing to watch children play such a simple and imaginative game in a culture where they are saturated with loud and uninspiring so called toys. Here my mother pours some tea (water) into Sydney’s cup while Jasmine drinks her tea in the background.

This is a particularly good one, son … especially your reflection in words.

Thank you, my son, for bringing back a memory of my three children and the many times they chose to “create” rather than to “be entertained”. Ask your wife about the “sheet tents” that oft times canvassed our whole living room! Tea, anyone?! Love you two…

Jasmine looks so big!! And so grown-up at a tea party! Your mom and Heather are both so good with kids- creative and entertaining without overstimulating. We teachers appreciate that! =)
