The Process of Remembering: a photoblog by andrew huth

Okay a slight change of pace here. Part of my job in Peru was to document some motocross races. I was pretty scared to death since covering sports is not my strength. It was a learning process for sure, but I did have a good time trying. Don’t get me wrong, I was dead tired after these races after a whole day of running up and down a race track in sweltering heat with a 40 pound backpack and cameras, but it was pretty exciting to see this sport up close and personal. This brings me to today’s photo. While trying to look for an interesting angle I got a little too close to this biker on his way back down after an incredibly high jump. I wanted to get close so I shot with a wide angle and nearly got hit by his back wheel doing it. It sure was thrilling if not stupid.

Okay Andrew– I’m trying to picture in my mind, your positioning in getting this angle. I expect to see you at a NASCAR race and riding on their hoods at 200 mph. We’ll make a deal!!!!! This is an amazing shot.

Yeah I was pretty much right below the rider looking upwards. I am sure I was pretty funny looking at the races, because I often was in strange positions to take my photos.
