ants-and-shadows

While in Peru, I got to know these ants a bit more than I wanted to. They look tiny, but they sure do give a punch when they bite you. Who would have thought such small things could hurt so much. I thought a portrait of them and their menacing shadows in the setting sun was fitting.

The ants go marching one-by-one, horrah, horrah!!!! Great image but a little intimitating for such small creatures.

Thank goodness they are only 1/16,000th the size of horses!

I find it amazing how a harmless shadow that is cast seems so much more threatening than the thing that is actually casting it…which is usually something rather small that we have the power to squash, if deemed necessary! (Hmmm, sounds quite similar to a lot of things in life that are thrown at us!) Here’s to the dinky size of biting ants and here’s to the stomping power of feet! The next time one of those buggers bites you, kick some ant butt, son!
