Bob is a lover of people. Bob is a pastor. Bob is a championship winning left wing in hockey. He loves to win, but hates to lose even more. Bob has lost in ways that make sport losses trivial. In his life he has awakened to the reality that loss and suffering are not the formless air that some poetry romanticizes. He knows it is a rock too heavy and irregularly shaped to be carried alone. Yet, he lives in hope for the promise of calm. His eyes can show you his brokenness, but his heart makes you feel his hope. I love my Uncle Bob like I love a few. Mostly, I always know he loves me. He is always great at letting you know you are loved.
